Meet the Mama Behind More for Mama
Hi, I’m Sam and More for Mama is my passion project.
After the birth of my first daughter, I struggled through a period of delayed postpartum depression. I knew that something was off and that I wasn’t happy, but I had no idea why. I had a supportive, loving husband and a beautiful, healthy baby. I lived in sunny southern California, and had a cushy part-time job. What possible reason could I have to be so miserable? Eventually, things got so crappy that my marriage was in jeopardy. I knew something had to change.
I made little adjustments to start taking back my life and really make it mine again. My husband and I began seeing a marriage counselor, I started to really focus on my health, and I went back to work full time for sanity’s sake. Slowly, I started to feel like me again. My marriage was on the mend, I was finally shedding that lingering baby weight, and I felt like I had a purpose a part from being a mom.
I began to believe that I really could have it all- my family, a career, and self-care; and that changed everything.
Now, I want to share what I’ve learned with all the mamas of the world. I want you to know that you can be a good mom and have a fulfilling career. You can put your family first while still prioritizing your own wellbeing. In fact, I would argue that prioritizing your needs, whatever they may be, is crucial for the overall prosperity of your family. I’m a much better wife and mother when I’m feeling fulfilled and accomplished in other areas of my life.

Sam Dobson is a mom to one sassy toddler (with another on the way!) and four crazy dogs. She’s a freelance writer and blogger, with a 9-5 gig. Sam’s work has been published in two national lifestyle magazines, and she has been featured on a number of online publications and blogs. In her free time, she enjoys reading to her daughter, taking her dogs for a walk, and date nights with her husband.
